Welcome to the WUMC Family Ministry Blog

Welcome to the new WUMC Family Ministry web page/blog. The Family Ministry is a group of families with generally younger kids (elementary age and younger) who get together about once a month for some sort of fellowship and social activity with the kids. Some of our past events have included free family movie nights, a Fall Harvest Festival, Gingerbread decorating parties. We also try to get the Mom’s and Dad’s together for some adult fellowship as well. During the school year we have a Sunday School class that can but does not always pertain to parenting issues.

My hope is that you will be able to stop by here any time and get an up-to-date look at what we will be doing and what we have been doing with the Family Ministry. And hopefully you will like something that you see so that you will be willing to stop by one of our events and check us out!! We would love to have you!!!

If you have any comments or suggestions, please let me know. I am ALWAYS looking for ideas to make things better, fresher and more exciting. Just tell me your idea.

Thanks for stopping by and hopefully we will

SEE YOU SOON!!

Planning for the Ice Cream Social

The ice cream social is coming soon!
It is on Saturday, Sept 22, 11:00 - 12:30 p.m. at the Cole's house.
If you are planning on going please RSVP below on the comments link. Please tell us how many people are coming and what toppings you will be bringing. Doubles are okay - we just don't want everyone to bring hot fudge.
And remember, we will be supplying the ice cream and drinks. You supply your favorite bowls and toppings. We want to see your crazy bowls!!!
One more thing - Pastor Laura is going to try to come too so that she can get a chance to meet everyone and find out what our group is all about. This will be a wonderful chance to fellowship with our new pastor.
Can't wait to see you all soon!!!!

Arm Loads of Fun

We had so much fun at the swim party and a near record turn out! Thank you to the Louques for the use of their pool and home. I believe that most of the kids seemed to enjoy the hot tub the most but I think the parents enjoyed the food and fellowship!
I can't wait for our next event when we can all get together again!!

Swim Party

We will all be heading over to the Louque's house for our pool party on Friday the 13th! Steph says to make sure that we bring extra floaties because of the date. I just picked that date because I thought it would be easy to remember.

Anyway, the fun starts at 4:00 and if you can't get there that early just come on over a little later.

Make sure that you bring your bathing suit, towel, floaties and a covered dish to share. We will be providing the hotdogs, hamburgers, drinks, paper products and condiments.

Please let us know if you are able to attend so that we can have a good count for our food.
You can RSVP by just leaving a comment right below here and please mention what dish you intend to bring. That way, we won't end up with 4 bowls of potato salad. (If you don't know what you are bringing yet, just come back and tell us.)

See you then!

Father's Day Golf Outing

Well, the men may not have been plentiful but the fun certainly was!

As the day got closer for the Father's Day golf outing, the men started dropping out like flies. What originally started as a group of 6 got cut by several different reasons ranging from a marathon to a wedding to even My Little Ponies on stage (you can't make up that kind of story)! So, Jon and Monte had a great time going golf with Jon's Dad and hopefully you will be able to join them next year.

Word on the street is that Rich is planning an Orioles trip soon so watch for details about that!

Let's hear it for the Dad's

There is going to be a Father's Day outing on Saturday, June 16th. I took a vote and found that most of the dad's wanted to play a round of golf. So that's what is planned. All of the Dad's are going to meet at the church in the parking lot on Center Street and then they can ride together to the golf course at McDaniel College. (I am told that there is not much parking there.)
I called for a tee time and was told that they did not do that. They go on a first come/first serve basis. Also, I asked about shoes and was told that anything will do except "Baseball type cleats." Hope that info is useful to some. As far as price is concerned, after 4:00, the cost is $8 to walk and about $15 or $16 to ride. I then made reservations for O'Lordan's for 6:00 or 6:30 - I can't remember which. Aren't I a really good planner!
So, if you are interested in golfing and/or dinner with the guys please let me know so that I can confirm the dinner reservations and so that the other Dad's know who to expect to show up at church. You can let me know by just posting a comment below and that way, all the Dad's can see.
Have a Happy Father's Day!!!

Favorite Place to take the Kids

We all have wonderful ideas of what to do with the kids on a Saturday afternoon so now is your chance to share your ideas with everyone else! Please leave a comment telling us all where you like to take you kids. Make sure you remember the details of where it is, how much it costs, how much time it takes to get there and how much time we can expect to spend there. I know I am always looking for new ideas. I'm sure others are as well.
